A. Cherkassov (1799-1861)

Andrei Cherkassov, a
lieutenant and a member of the Southern Society, was accused by the 7th
grade. After a year of penalty servitude in Chita and an exile to
Berezovo he was transferred to Yalutorovsk. He was a son of a rich
landowner, and received substantial support from his farther. He would
seized possibilities to provide aid to his less supported mates. In 1837
Cherkassov and some other exiled Decembrists were recruited as a rank
and file to the Caucasus regiment. For his distinguished service he was
given a rank of ensign. After retirement Cherkassov lived in the village
of Volodkovo in the Belevsk region.
