Trinity cathedral

Trinity cathedral was
founded in 1703. Its place in the lay-out of the Kremlin forms
monolithic ensemble with fortifications adjoining them. Its lay-out is
unique as the cathedral is a combination of a temple octahedral drum.
Trinity cathedral is the bright sample of style of the baroque which has
reached the greatest blossoming in cities of Siberia at the end of XVII
- first half of XVIII centuries. The history has not saved names of
authors and builders of this temple. On one of assumptions they could be
artels of masters, who shortly before it took part in construction of
stone temples in Solikamsk. Consecration of a temple took place on April,
16th, 1709. In 1712 the construction of martyr Harlampiya part of the
temple began. The iconostasis which of the temple we can not see now was
made by monk of Tobolsk bishop’s house John at the beginning of XVIII
century. Soon after October revolution Trinity cathedral was closed down.
It was rescued from its destruction in 1959 at the international
conference in The Hague where it was included in number of the most
significant architectural monuments of the world.
