According to one of the legends it was ruined by malicious Tatars, who wanted the Ustyug’s gold. But it is known, that it was destroyed in the middle of XV century as a result of severe intestine wars of Russian princes. The city has not been restored, but as for the Trinity-Gleden man's monastery it has been built up anew by Ustyug’s people.
