Nikolskaya church

On the bank of the river Sukhona, on the territory of the former trading square there is Nikolsky temple with a Belltower - a monument of architecture of XVII-XIX centuries. It is the earliest example of Ustyug’s stone two-storeyed temple which has united winter and summer churches.

In 1986 after carrying out the restoration works in building of Nikolskaya church a showroom of a museum was opened. On the ground floor there is the exposition " the Folk art of the Ustyug’s land ". Rich collections show a variety of Ustyug’s folk art of XVII - the beginning of XX century: patten weaving (pestrjad, remiznoe, branoe, elective), an embroidery, cube heeltap, wood-carving and wood-painting, ceramics.
