Ensemble on the place of an old fortress
In XVI century, in territory of Solikamsk fortress wooden parish church after the name of Archangel Michael was constructed. In 1656 there was terrible epidemic in Solikamsk and a lot of people died. The townspeople started to hold public prayers at a serf tower on which the icon of the Savior was attached and arranged religious processions and as the result epidemic was stopped. At the Arkhangelsk church there was first female monastery in the city. The fires in 1672 and in 1712 destroyed a lot of buildings on territory of the fortress among them were wooden temples, on their place two stone churches - summer Salvation (1689) and winter Arkhangelsk (1712-1725) churches were constructed. Once they were united with uniform ensemble with 30meterhigh Belltower and a chapel constructed on the place of a burial place of victims of Nogay attacks of defenders of city that we can not see now. For contemporaries, the ensemble on a place of an old fortress is an original monument of ancient history of Solikamsk.
