History of museum
In 1947 was opened for the visitors again. Significant event of that period became the reason of carrying out the first local lore conference in 1948, it was devoted to development of the museum. 1950-1970 were marked by purposeful works on formation of assembly of the museum and opening of new expositions. During these period samples of national wood-carving, samovars, ancient household utensils, etc were collected. In 1963 in Epiphany church the department of the nature with a planetarium was opened, and in 1975 art department began to work. In 1986 the Museum of salt history on the basis of Ust-Borovskiy salt making factory was opened. In 1989 in Epiphany church a department " Old Russian art " was opened and in 1992 in Trinity cathedral the constant exposition about holiday especially esteemed in Solikamsk holiday of the Ninth Friday was opened. For today Solikamsk local lore museum is included into number of the largest historical and cultural centers of Ural Mountains region and Prikamye. Active expositional, research, educational and publishing activities are conducted by the museum. The general fund of the museum is more than 70 thousand units of storage.

The
primary goals Solikamsk local lore museum in the first decade of its
existence was acquisition of funds, propaganda and educational activity,
statement on the account of monuments of history and architecture,
carrying out of archeological research and geocampaigns. In 1941
Solikamsk Executive Committee of the City Soviet Deputies made a
decision to close the museum and give it to establishments evacuated to
the city. In the House of Commander evacuated hospital was placed. In
Trinity cathedral there were assemblies of the State Museum of
Architecture evacuated to Solikamsk, A.S.Pushkin’s State Museum of the
Fine Arts , the State Russian Museum, the State Museum of Cultures of
the East, the State theatrical museum after the name of A.A.Bahrushina
and some other museums.
