Ishym Today

Ishym today is a center of
a big agricultural district within the Tyumen region. Economy is
represented mostly by food production, and by some smaller industries
specialized at building materials and engineering. The Trans-Siberian
railway road crosses Ishym. The Ishym district borders with Kazakhstan
in the South, and with the Omsk region in the East.

The population of Ishym is
over 60 thousand people. There are several movie theatres, recreation
centers, and a local museum of history there. There also operates a
pedagogical college named after P. Ershov. The visitors to Ishym are
impressed with clean streets, and historical monuments being carefully
looked after by the residents.
